Alaska tough: A triathlete and triathlon coach, breast cancer survivor, mother and lifelong Alaskan. Recently finished second in her age group in a half-Ironman, qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
Fighting spirit: A founding board member of the Alaska Run for Women, Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, right after the run. “I’m thankful I went through that experience. It makes you rethink your place in this world and how you want to live your life.”
On competing after cancer: “It gives a lot of hope to survivors that they can continue to have the life they’ve always had, after a diagnosis.”
