Green thumb: Cameron grew up tending the family garden along the Susitna River. Today, he’s a co-founder of Vertical Harvest Hydroponics, a company that aims to provide fresh greens to remote Alaska communities.
A twist on AK-grown: Cameron and business partners Linda Janes and Dan Perpich came up with the idea of putting hydroponic systems inside shipping containers as a way to grow fresh, organic produce in the farthest corners of Alaska year-round. “Ultimately our goal is just to build a better food system for our state.”
It takes a village: “We attribute 100% of our success to Alaskans across the state who are making these farms work in really tough places and working seven days a week to grow great produce.”
Whether you were born and raised in Alaska or just have the Alaska born and raised spirit, we want to hear from you.
