GCI is happy to bring Alaskans the best TV programming available. Most of this programming is subject to agreements with the content owners who provide it to us. Occasionally, there are changes to the lineup and we want to let you know.

 

August 2017

  • mtvU (ch. 138) will no longer be included in GCI TV packages effective August 1st. Similar MTV content is available on MTV2 (ch. 115), MTV Classic (ch. 117), and BET Jams (ch. 140).

September 2017

  • Sprout (ch. 133) is changing names to Universal Kids on September 9th.
  • Chiller (ch.113) will be replaced with the New Olympic Channel on September 28th. We will also be launching Olympic Channel HD in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Mat-Su, and Ketchikan (ch. 745).

 July 2017

  • Esquire TV (ch. 26; 685 HD) is ceasing operations effective June 28th. Some programming including the American Ninja Warrior and Friday Night Tykes will move to USA network (ch. 28; 693 HD). 
     
  • Golf Channel (ch. 304; 712 HD) is moving from Digital Sports to the Digital Variety and Total TV packages effective June 30th

  • Universal HD (ch. 625 HD) is ceasing operations effective July 14th. Some sports programming is moving NBCSN (ch. 39; 697 HD)

  • FamilyNet (ch. 127) is becoming to The Cowboy Channel effective July 1st. The Cowboy Channel will expand the current Sunday ministry and another family-friendly programming to now include western sports and lifestyle programming.

  • Bravo HD (ch. 695 HD) is launching in Fairbanks, Juneau, and Ketchikan effective July 15th.  Bravo HD will be available in the Plus TV package with Bravo SD (ch. 83)
  • American Heroes HD (ch. 685 HD) is launching in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Mat-Su effective July 15th.  AHC HD will be available in the Total TV package with AHC SD (ch. 104).
  • NFL Network HD (ch. 630) is moving from the HD Package to Plus TV/Digital Variety package effective July 15th.

  • A&E HD (ch. 633) is moving from the HD Package to Plus TV/Digital Variety package effective July 15th.

  • History HD (ch. 634) is moving from the HD Package to Plus TV/Digital Variety package effective July 15th.

April 2017

Fox Business Network (ch. 135; 698 HD) will now be part of the Plus TV package.
One World Sports (ch. 312; 721 HD) is now called Eleven Sports Network and is still your source for international sports including hockey, soccer, rugby, cycling, and more. 
 
January 2017

WGN America (ch. 8/640)  and Bloomberg (ch. 130) will no longer be available effective January 1, 2017 due to low viewership and increasing costs. 
NW Cable News (ch. 19) is ceasing operations effective January 6, 2017 and will no longer be available in Petersburg, Sitka, and Wrangell.
PBS Kids (ch. 97) – is launching on January 16, 2017 in Anchorage, Girdwood, Homer, Juneau, Kenai/Soldotna, Mat-Su, and Seward. 
 
October 2016

Pivot (channel 128) will cease operations effective October 31st and will no longer be available
View upcoming Contract Renewals.

November 2016

Science Channel HD (channel 690) will move to a satellite that is not visible in Barrow, Bethel, Cordova, Kotzebue and Nome on Nov 15th.  The Science Channel will still be available in SD on channel 103.  

Destination America HD (channel 691) will move to a satellite that is not visible in Barrow, Bethel, Cordova, Kotzebue and Nome on Nov 15th.  Destination America is still available in SD on channel 105. 

September 2016:

  • MTV Hits (channel 116) is changing its name to NickMusic and will offer videos from various music genres, concerts, artist-hosted music blocks and specials. 

May 2016:

  • Telemundo HD will move from channel 756 to channel 655

February 2016:

2/1/2016

  • Anchorage School District will now provide school board meetings and educational programming to GCI TV customers on channel 9 along with other Municipality of Anchorage programming. Channel 14 will no longer have any programming as of February 1st.

2/29/2016

  • H2 (channel 204; 742 HD) will change name to Viceland.

January 2016:

  • Music Choice will change the names of Pop Rhythmic (channel 802) to Music Choice Max. Music playlist will be a mix of Hits, Rap, EDM and Alternative.
  • ABC Family (channel 51; 678 HD) will change names to Freeform.
