How to Use Thumbs Up & Thumbs Down Buttons

August 2, 2016

You can use the Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons on your remote control to rate programs. The DVR uses thumb ratings to make TiVo Suggestions.

When you give a program up to 3 thumbs up or down, your DVR remembers program details such as the category (i.e. science fiction, drama, or comedy), actors, directors, writers, episodes, and so forth. The DVR also automatically assigns one thumbs up rating to every program you record. Your TiVo will base further TiVo Suggestions on the program details of the shows you have already rated.

TiVo Suggestions never replace shows you request or prevent them from being recorded. TiVo Suggestions are always the first programs deleted to make room for recordings you request. To find a list of TiVo Suggestions, press the TiVo button to go to TiVo Central, and then select Find Programs > TiVo Suggestions.
