Meet the Business Leadership Team


Senior Vice President & General Manager, GCI Business

Martin Cary leads GCI’s business strategy and is responsible for all business initiatives that are delivered over broadband satellite and terrestrial infrastructure.  Martin provides the strategic direction for all corporate mergers and acquisitions and advancing GCI’s infrastructure to optimally deliver business applications.  

Before joining GCI, Martin was Senior Partner of Astrolabe Systems, Inc., a technology management consulting firm acquired by GCI in 1995, where he developed SchoolAccess. Prior to Astrolabe Systems, Martin served as the Director of Information Technology for the North Slope Borough School District for nearly a decade.

Vice President, Business Development Pacific Northwest

Nathan earned his M.S. in Electrical Engineering and is a Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) #4728. He has broad technical interests, and enjoys working with people – both customers and employees. Before joining GCI Nathan was the president and founder of Northpoint Consulting Inc. Nathan and his wife have four children. In his spare time he enjoys photography and playing the violin.

Vice President, Healthcare and Education

The main inspiration for all Pam’s work in education is to advocate for broadband access to underserved rural schools and communities. She has contributed much of her time and expertise to a variety of state and national organizations advocating for broadband equity. A widely respected strategist and visionary in her field, she has earned the trust and respect of education leaders in Alaska and the Lower 48.


Vice President, Business Product Development

John is responsible for product management and development of GCI’s managed services portfolio. John has more than 25 years of professional experience in network management and engineering, technology consultation, educational technology management and product development.

John has served in many roles at GCI, including Program Management of the company’s $250 million dollar TERRA network initiative, which brought modern broadband service to rural Alaska. He currently serves on the executive board of several nonprofits.

Vice President, Business Engineering and Operations

Van is responsible for all engineering and operations functions within GCI Business. Van has over 28 years of professional experience in Information and Communications Technology, engineering, operations, and management. Van has held many industry certifications over the past 28 years. Van currently is a member of IEEE, HIMSS, ATA, and is a member of the Board of Directors for The Arc of Anchorage.

Senior Director, GCI Business Operations Pacific Northwest

A 25-year veteran of the IT industry, Bob began his career as a telecommunications engineer. Since that time, he's held network architect and leadership positions across a number of disciplines, including voice networking, data networking, video, data center and server operations and client computing.
