ANCHORAGE, Alaska – GCI is proud to continue expansion of the largest wireless network in Alaska and bring 4G LTE data speeds to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, with coverage from Willow to Palmer to Knik-Goose Bay Road. GCI customers who already have LTE-capable smartphones will automatically receive benefits of the upgraded network at no additional cost.
Whether at home in the Mat-Su or simply visiting one of the area’s many recreational spots, GCI customers will not only enjoy 4G LTE speeds but they will also have the benefit of the largest wireless network statewide, which affords customers the best coverage in Alaska, as well as nationwide 4G LTE coverage across the U.S.
This upgrade is part of GCI’s ongoing commitment to provide Alaskans with the best and fastest communications technology available. The network will give people a chance to enjoy online activities such as streaming multimedia, downloading files much faster, video chatting, surfing the Internet and much more.
“It’s amazing that now I can drive from our store in Wasilla to my home in Big Lake and have LTE service available the entire way,” said GCI’s Wasilla Store Manager Diane Lamb. “I know our customers will appreciate that just like I do.”
For a limited time, GCI is also offering 5,000 Alaska Airlines Miles for each new line activated. GCI customers who do not currently have an LTE-capable smartphone can take advantage of special introductory pricing on the Samsung Galaxy S6. UpgradeNow gives customers an option to upgrade to a new smartphone or tablet with no down payment and no interest for the term of the financing agreement. In addition, GCI has a contract buyout offer for anyone who is under contract with another wireless provider. As an added option, for a limited time, GCI is providing Mat-Su customers with a 30-day risk-free trial. Customers are invited to take advantage of these offers at the Wasilla store at 1879 E. Parks Highway in the Target shopping center or to visit GCI at one of its other 37 retail stores.
This summer, in honor of its customers and the arrival of 4G LTE in the Mat-Su, GCI will host a celebration at its Wasilla location. Details will be announced in the coming weeks.
Since being founded in 1979, GCI has invested over $2 billion to bring the latest telecommunication technologies to Alaska, reflecting GCI’s ongoing commitment to the innovation Alaska needs to support industry, education, health care, job growth and livability for today and the future.
