Celebratory community barbeque to be held Aug. 21
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Today, GCI announced the arrival of its 4G LTE service in Ketchikan. GCI customers who already have LTE-capable smartphones will automatically begin to receive the benefits of the upgraded network at no additional cost.
GCI customers in the Ketchikan area will now be able to enjoy 4G LTE speeds. Plus, the addition of three new cell sites before the end of 2015 will provide expanded coverage spanning a larger geographic area. Customers will continue to have the benefits of the GCI network, the largest wireless network in Alaska, which is dedicated to offering the best coverage in the state, as well as improved roaming coverage nationwide. This upgrade is part of GCI’s ongoing commitment to provide Alaskans with the best and fastest communication technology available.
“GCI’s new LTE service covers Mountain Point to Clover Pass. While we were out fishing this summer, my wife was able to upload all of her pictures and videos to social media in just seconds right from the boat. That is something that would not have been possible before,” said GCI Ketchikan Store Manager Perry Allen. “Like me, I am sure our customers will appreciate the speed and availability of our new 4G LTE service”.
In honor of its customers and to celebrate the arrival of 4G LTE in Ketchikan, GCI will host a barbeque at its Ketchikan store Friday, Aug. 21, from
11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The menu will feature products made in Alaska such as reindeer sausage dogs, chips and drinks.
For a limited time, GCI is also offering 5,000 Alaska Airlines Miles for each new line activated. GCI customers who do not currently have an LTE-capable smartphone can take advantage of special introductory pricing on the Samsung Galaxy S6. UpgradeNow gives customers an option to upgrade to a new smartphone or tablet with no down payment and no interest for the term of the financing agreement. In addition, GCI has a contract buyout offer for anyone who is under contract with another wireless provider. Customers are invited to take advantage of these offers at the GCI retail store in Ketchikan, located at 2417 Tongass Ave #104.
