Anchorage, Alaska—In response to the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Matthew, General Communication Inc. (GCI) is offering free calls and texts for all GCI wireless and landline customers who are attempting to connect with loved ones in Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Haiti as well as Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. GCI will waive fees through the end of October.
We hope that by offering free calls and texts, GCI will make it easier for Alaskans to stay in touch with loved ones who may have been affected by Hurricane Matthew or are now in harm’s way,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager Consumer Services Paul Landes. “Our thoughts are with the families of the victims.”
GCI customers are not required to make any action on their account; fees associated with calls or texts to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina will be automatically waived. Customers with questions can contact GCI customer representatives at (907) 265-5400 or (800) 800-4800. Those who wish to support relief efforts can visit www.redcross.org.
