Fairbanks, Alaska – Community donations of nonperishable items are being collected at GCI stores in Fairbanks and North Pole to support crews fighting the Rex Complex Wildfires.
"The Fairbanks community is no stranger to wildfires. All of us at GCI want to help in any way that we can,” said GCI Interior Region Stores Manager Roxy Marcy. “Collecting and delivering donations to the Fairbanks and North Pole areas is the least we can do to support the brave firefighters and affected families."
Requested donations to support fire crews include such nonperishable items as:
- Trail mix
- Granola bars
- Sports drinks (Gatorade, Vitamin Water or similar)
GCI stores serving as donation drop-off locations as well as hours of operation are as follows:
- 3637 Airport Way (8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday and noon – 4 p.m., Sunday)
- 510 Merhar Ave. (8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday and noon – 4 p.m. Sunday)
- 32 College Road in Bentley Mall (10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday and 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday)
It should be noted that monetary donations will not be accepted at GCI stores.
