Traffic Boost creates a WiFi boost by letting you decide which types of data take the lead on your home network, creating a temporary bump in performance for specific activities like gaming, streaming, or video calls. Have an important gaming session coming up? Give it priority for peak performance over everything else on your network, with AK-Fi Home.
Here's how it works:
You can boost an app category, individual application, a profile, or a specific device in your home for 3 hours, 6 hours, or until the end of the day. You can also extend the boost by the hour or cancel it anytime to return to your home’s Automated Priority, which is the default setting to keep everything running smoothly.
Note: Only one type of Traffic Boost can be active at a time. Traffic Boost is available with our newest modems, if you don’t see Traffic Boost, please contact GCI for more information.
How to Enable Traffic Boost with AK-Fi Home
Select Traffic Boost from the Home dashboard or under the Network page.
Tap the Apps header tile to boost specific categories or individual apps or select Profiles to boost specific profiles and their assigned devices. It is also possible to prioritize a single device.
Select a time limit of 3 hours, 6 hours, or until the end of the day. You will see this change reflected in the Traffic Boost title cards in the Home dashboard and Network pages.
Home Security Boost
Home Security Boost prioritizes home security apps and devices on your home network when all primary devices associated to profiles have left your network.
From the Settings page, tap the Security tile.
Enable the toggle for Home Security Boost, which will activate once all primary assigned devices have left the home.
