GCI is proud to host the largest esports tournament in our state's history - again. Alaskan residents competed for a shot at the $25,000 prize pool in the second annual Northern Lights Invitational, featuring Counter-Strike 2.
Playday #1: Saturday, April 6
Playoffs: Saturday, April 13 (live on Twitch)
GCI will be hosting an online esports tournament on Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) beginning at the start of April. Tournament play days will take place over three days across two weekends beginning April 6.
The tournament will be hosted for Alaskans only. Participants can sign up in party sizes of to five players. If you choose to sign up in a group of less than five players or by yourself, you will be automatically matched with players of equal skill levels.
We are excited to share that every match will be hosted on dedicated GCI servers in Alaska to give our competitors the best overall tournament experience. More information about connecting to the servers during the tournament will be available on Discord when matches are about to kick off.
The first play day will kick off with head-to-head matches featuring every team that signed up. The first play day will narrow down our team pool to 32 teams through a best-of-3, single elimination format.
The remaining 32 teams will face off during the second play day which will see the bracket narrow down to 4 teams following the same best-of-3, single elimination format. The 4 remaining teams will face off in our playoffs during a live-streamed event.

The remaining 4 teams that advance to the playoffs will secure a piece of the prize pool. The prize pool breakdown is as follows:
1st: $12,500
2nd: $7,500
3rd: $2,500
4th: $2,500
