GCI crews are continuing to work to restore service in Sitka. Basic mobile voice, text and landline services have successfully been restored. We're currently working to restore home internet in a very limited capacity to support email and web browsing. Mobile data, landline to mobile calling, mobile to landline calling and Yukon TV services will remain down until the cable can be repaired.
We are committed to improving service as much as possible until the subsea fiber can be repaired, restoring services fully. A fiber repair ship is in route and is expected to be at the site of the break by Sept. 8. Once on site, the repairs could take up to six days depending on the complexity of the situation and other challenges that may arise.
