LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals, marketed as 4G LTE.  It is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, increasing the capacity and speed using a different radio interface together with core network improvements.

LTE is a data only technology currently, Voice is still delivered using GSM – 911 calls will be processed on the GSM network.

In order to experience LTE data speeds, a wireless phone that is LTE capable is required.   Most customers do not currently have a LTE capable wireless phone.  Check out the LTE capable devices that GCI sells.
