Upcoming Channel Changes

GCI is happy to bring Alaskans the best TV programming available. Most of this programming is subject to agreements with the content owners who provide it to us. Occasionally, there are changes to the line-up and we want to let you know.

November 2015:

  • 11/16/2015 - Universal Sports (channel 312, 721 HD) is ceasing operations and will no longer be available.
  • 11/16/2015 – One World Sports (channel 312, 721 HD) featuring live and exclusive sporting events from around the globe including rugby, soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, ice hockey, and cricket launches in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Girdwood, Homer, Juneau, Kenai/Soldotna, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Palmer, Petersburg, Seward, Sitka, Valdez, Wasilla, and Wrangell.  

December 2015:

  • 12/14/2015 - mtvU (channel 138) is moving to a satellite not visible in Alaska and will no longer be part of Digital Variety service. GCI continues to carry many MTV, CMT, and VH1 channels.
  • 12/31/2015 - Discovery Life (channel 144, 737 HD) will launch in anchorage, Fairbanks, Girdwood, Juneau, Kenai/Soldotna, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Palmer, Sitka, and Wasilla. HD may not be available in all locations.

January 2016:

  • 1/12/2016 - Music Choice will change the names of Pop Rhythmic (channel 802) to Music Choice Max. Music playlist will be a mix of Hits, Rap, EDM and Alternative.
  • 1/15/2016 - ABC Family (channel 51; 678 HD) will change names to Freeform.
