FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Anchorage, Alaska – GCI will sponsor the Bear Paw Grand Parade in Eagle River, for the second year in a row. Dozens of employees and their families will represent GCI and walk in the parade. The Bear Paw festival takes place in downtown Eagle River July 9 – 13, with the parade being held on Saturday, July 12.
The new Anchorage Police Department Dodge Charger is the official parade lead vehicle. During the parade the GCI volunteers will be handing out a coloring sheet that will support the naming contest for the Charger. During the parade, and throughout the summer, GCI and the Anchorage Police Department Employees Association are reaching out to school-age children to name the newest member of the APD fleet with a fun coloring activity. Children who complete the coloring sheet and return it to a GCI store, or submit it via mail or email, are entered to win a special school visit from the new Dodge Charger in the fall. The Charger was donated jointly by GCI and Anchorage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Center to the Anchorage Police Department earlier this year.
“At GCI, we take great pride in supporting events that bring our community together,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Services Paul Landes. “GCI is proud to have been part of this great community since 1982, and the Bear Paw Festival has been the premier event of the summer in Chugiak-Eagle River since 1985, providing a fun way for everyone to gather and celebrate the best of Alaska.”
The Bear Paw Festival is held annually in downtown Eagle River and draws participation from throughout Southcentral Alaska, featuring family-friendly events such as the Slippery Salmon Olympics, Classic Car Show, Motorcycle Show and more.
