President, CEO and Co-Founder
Ronald Duncan is one of the founders of GCI and has been president and CEO since 1989. He previously served GCI as executive vice president. Duncan serves on the Board of Directors of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association. He is also on the Board of the National Business Aviation Association. He is past chairman of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation and the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation. Prior to starting GCI, Duncan founded and was president of an Alaska-based cable television company and was a partner at a management and economic consulting firm. Duncan received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Gregory F. Chapados
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Greg Chapados has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since June 2012. Prior to that he served as senior vice president since June 2006. Before joining GCI, Chapados was a managing director at two boutique investment banks in Dallas, Texas, specializing in the defense and telecommunications industries and served as senior vice president, new business development at Crown Media, a cable system subsidiary of Hallmark Cards. Before moving to Dallas, Chapados served as Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information in the U.S. Department of Commerce during the George H. W. Bush administration and chief of staff to Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK).
Executive Vice President, Wireless
Wilson Hughes was named Executive Vice President, Wireless in June of 2012. Prior to that, he was the Chief Operating Officer of GCI since June 1991. Hughes has more than 40 years of experience as an executive, engineer and project manager in the communications, engineering and construction industries in Alaska. He is past chairman of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation and is past chairman of the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority. He currently serves as a board member of the Alaska Energy Authority, the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority and The Conservation Fund. Prior to joining GCI, Hughes was president of Northern Air Cargo of Anchorage, Alaska. He has also served as president of Enserch Alaska Services Inc., an Alaska construction company and Frank Moolin & Associates, Inc., an Anchorage engineering firm. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla and a master’s in science and engineering management from the University of Alaska.
General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Senior Vice President, Governmental Affairs
Tina Pidgeon is the strategic leader for legal, regulatory, compliance, and policy initiatives across the company. She plays an instrumental role in GCI’s growth and development by guiding the company’s strategy and negotiations on business ventures, leads a department that is responsible for the formulation and implementation of the company’s legal, regulatory, and advocacy efforts, and manages all contract negotiations and dispute resolutions. Tina also oversees GCI’s compliance program, in accordance with the company’s commitment to honest, ethical, and lawful conduct. Tina previously served as GCI’s senior vice president, governmental affairs and senior counsel (2010-2011) and was vice president of federal regulatory affairs in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the company in 2003, she practiced law with the firm Drinker Biddle and represented telecommunications companies including GCI before the FCC and state regulatory commissions. She is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications, the Federal Communications Bar Association, and Anchorage Association of Women Lawyers. Tina received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame.
William C. Behnke
Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives
William “Bill” Behnke served as president of GCI Network Systems since it was acquired by GCI in 1989. In October 1993, the sales and marketing departments of GCI and GCI Network Systems were consolidated and Behnke was named senior vice president of the new sales and marketing department. Prior to that, Behnke was a senior vice president and manager of marketing and sales for Transalaska Data Systems, before it was acquired by GCI and renamed GCI Network Systems. Behnke received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Wisconsin.
Paul E. Landes
Senior Vice President, Consumer Services
Paul E. Landes joined GCI in 1999 and has been a member of the senior executive team since January 2011 when he became senior vice president of consumer services. Currently responsible for all areas pertaining to residential products, Landes and his team have developed a reputation for creating innovative campaigns that have resulted in accelerated, long-term growth for Alaska’s largest telecommunications company. Notable milestones include overseeing the development of all 38 storefronts in the state, launching the GCI 1GIG red service in Alaska, and increasing the number of household cable modems from 1,000 to 125,000 over the course of his tenure.
Landes previously served as GCI’s vice president of marketing and sales from 2005 to 2011, chief marketing officer from 2002 to 2005, and vice president of marketing from 1999 to 2002. Before joining GCI, Landes was vice president of marketing and purchasing at Carr Gottstein Foods.
Landes served on the Salvation Army advisory board and was a member of the Special Olympics Alaska board of directors for 15 years including two terms as chairman. He recently led fundraising efforts for The Special Olympics Alaska Sports Training Center and Campus, the only Special Olympics training center in the world of its kind. Landes received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from The College of Great Falls in Montana.
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Secretary
Pete Pounds was named GCI’s senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective January, 2014. Prior to that, he has been the company Secretary since 2012, and vice president, Finance since 2009. He joined the company in 1997, as a business analyst, from KPMG Peat Marwick. He is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
