North Slope Harmony Radio System
Location: North Slope of Alaska 

Project:  A multi-year project designing, installing and operating a 22-site, two-way radio system to support and connect 10,000 subscribers. All components were pre-staged in GCI warehouses for quality control and acceptance prior to being shipped out, followed by numerous hours of tower work and antenna installation.

Location: North Slope of Alaska

Project:  Providing full life cycle support to a new player on the North Slope of Alaska, consisting of a multi-year assignment engineering, furnishing and installing communication towers, microwave systems, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), fiber optic systems, telephone, power systems, two-way radio, Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN). The client required one single telecommunications EPC contractor to interface with all aspects of exploration support, design, engineering, procurement and safe construction services, followed by our Industrial Telecom group rolling these practices and resources into remote operational support.


Multiple Site Point to Multipoint (PtMP) Microwave System
Location: North Slope of Alaska

Project:  Establishing robust hosted Internet and Voice solution via terrestrial MW systems to each of the client’s five drill sites. Each site required a secure PtMP wireless network for reliable Journey Management systems and desktop support.

Northstar Development
Location: North Slope of Alaska

Project: GCI Industrial Telecom designed, engineered and constructed a new microwave, fiber and telephone system, Local Area Network (LAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) to replace what had been installed by a previous provider on an offshore remote drilling facility on the North Slope of Alaska. The installation improved overall network performance for Northstar Development.


Natural Disaster Communication System Recovery & Emergency Services
Location: The Gulf of Mexico 

Project:  Providing critical post-disaster communication services and technical support following Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina to clients throughout the GoM region. GCI partnered with incumbent providers to provide technical installation and recovery services and now own and maintain a fleet of quick deploy Mobile Emergency Response Centers (MERC), which can operate anywhere in North America.

Multi-Site Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP)
Location: Ten sites throughout the Gulf of Mexico

Project: In response to a major offshore incident, GCI Industrial Telecom successfully designed, licensed, constructed and operated a complex RoIP system, which spanned six states (760 miles to support shore-to-vessel clean-up efforts. It included 10 sites and four repeaters per site in the Gulf of Mexico region supporting more than 6,500 subscribers. Full FCC coordination and FAT testing was completed prior to deployment with our Houston-based engineers and project managers managing the project end-to-end. The entire project was completed safely with incredibly quick turnaround. GCI Industrial Telecom has a proven track record of meeting emergency needs for our clients.


Full Life Cycle Production Facility Support
Location: North Slope of Alaska

Project: GCI Industrial Telecom initially began our relationship with this client supporting their remote exploration effort. Due to the trust we built with the client, GCI was awarded the telecom engineering, construction and operation and management of their $2 billion remote production facility. GCI provided full life cycle support and integration, which included remote facilities engineering, construction design, support and circuits. 

Networks that GCI Industrial Telecom designed and delivered include fully managed voice, data and morale systems, two-way radio, SCADA, radar, AWOS systems, WAN, MPLS for a 60-mile project span with extensions to Anchorage and the Lower 48, process control, wifi, IPT telephone system, CCTV, CATV, coax and fiber distribution, microwave RF systems, WiMax, internet/telephone distribution, ground-to air, marine VHF, radio consoles, PA system, inside/outside plant cabling, security access control system, fabrication of two telecom modules with full electrical, DC systems, UPS systems, HVAC/fire/gas telecom packages, tower construction, FCC licensing and developed all telecom project design spec documentation. GCI Industrial Telecom continues to provide the client on-site operations and maintenance as a part of this full life cycle support.

West Texas Fiber Optic Cable Design and Installation
Location: Permian Basin, West Texas

Project: GCI Industrial Telecom represented the owner to design, document and install more than 150 miles of fiber optic cabling and duct, including hand holds and pull points for an infrastructure expansion project over the last two years. Dark fiber was added to the pipeline scope after our recommendations, which allows the client to offer this 
Infrastructure to other entities and allow for the option to create a revenue stream for an otherwise capital project.


Macondo Emergency Response
Location: Gulf of Mexico Coastline (Florida to Houston)

Project:  Designing, coordinating and constructing an integrated incident response 2-way radio system in less than 60 days. This involved coordination with several local and national response agencies, including the FCC, to deliver a system that would be used by the owner, the USCG, DEC and Homeland Security. 

In addition to designing this system, the Industrial Telecom team provided construction support to the Gulf Coast Restoration Organization’s office and man camp needs. Designing, coordinating and constructing an integrated incident response 2-way radio system in less than 60 days. This involved coordination with several local and national response agencies, including the FCC, to deliver a system that would be used by the owner, the USCG, DEC and Homeland Security. In addition to designing this system, our Industrial Telecom team provided critical construction support to the Gulf Coast Restoration Organization’s office. Ongoing support is now centralized in our Houston Office.
