What is GCI GO?

GCI GO is unlimited access to TV anywhere you want, from any device. And it’s entirely free when you subscribe to GCI TV.
 

How do I get GCI GO? 

To start watching your favorite shows on the go, you simply need the following*:

  1. A GCI TV subscription
  2. Your MyGCI profile username and password 
  3. An Internet connection

*All three items are required to use GCI GO.
 

How do I access GCI GO?

To use GCI GO, you’ll need to authenticate your MyGCI Profile at each programmer’s site on each device you’ll use to watch GCI GO.

If you want to access GCI GO from your computer, simply navigate to the programmer’s web site. Click here to see the list of GCI content providers and links to the programmer web sites.

For example, if you want to watch HBO GO from your computer, simply go to HBO GO via your computer’s browser and then follow the HBO GO prompts to log in using your MyGCI profile login.

If you want to access a GCI GO programmer from a mobile device such as your smartphone or tablet, you’ll need to download the programmer’s mobile app from your phone’s app store. Click here to see the list of GCI content providers and those who have mobile apps.

For example, if you want to start watching HBO from your iPhone, you’ll need to download the HBO GO app from the iPhone store and then follow the HBO GO prompts to log in using your MyGCI profile login.

What shows are available on GCI GO?

Our content partners such as HBO, Cinemax, A&E provide movies, original series as well hundreds of titles in documentaries, sports, comedy specials and more. Click here for our current channel list. New channels are being added all the time.
 

Do I need to have a GCI TV subscription to use GCI GO?

Yes, you need to subscribe to GCI TV. If you’re unsure what GCI TV package you’re subscribed to, you can always call us at (800) 800–4800 to verify. And if you’re not currently a GCI TV customer, we encourage you to sign up. You’ll save even more money when you add TV to your GCI bundle.
 

Do I have to have a GCI Internet connection to use GCI GO?

In order to use GCI GO, you need a secure, high-speed Internet connection on the device you want to use. If you’re not currently a GCI Internet customer, we suggest you sign up to qualify for a package rate and reduced overage fees.
 

Do I have to pay any additional fees to use GCI GO?

No, there are no additional fees. GCI GO is free as long as you subscribe to a GCI TV package that includes the channel you’d like to stream and a secure, high-speed Internet connection.
 

How many people can access GCI GO through MyGCI profile?

Up to ten family members, friends and roommates can enjoy GCI GO, as long as they’re associated users on your MyGCI profile. To add a family member, friend or roommate to your MyGCI profile, click here.
 

How many devices can I use to watch GCI GO?

Device availability varies by channel provider. See our device-specific requirements at a glance here.
 

Can I use GCI GO from more than one device at a time?

Yes. GCI GO is available on up to ten devices through one GCI account. To use GCI GO from more than one device at a time, you’ll need to log in to your MyGCI profile from each device. You’ll also need to do an initial log in to MyGCI every time you add a new device. Finally, you’ll want to make sure each device is an approved GCI G Odevice. Which mobile devices and operating systems support GCI GO?

Some of but not all of GCI’s content providers have iOS and/pr Android apps. See available devices by channel, here.

Can I watch GCI GO shows with closed captions?

The option for closed caption varies by channel provider. At the time of launch, HBO and Cinemax provide closed captions on computers and laptops, supported iOS devices and on certain 2011 and 2012 Samsung Smart TVs. For more information specific to the device you’re using, please check with your device manufacturer.
 

Can I watch GCI GO shows with in other languages, like Spanish?

The option for additional languages varies by channel provider. At the time of launch, if a particular show has a Spanish version, it will be noted on the show’s information page.
 

Do I need an app to use GCI GO?

If you want to watch GCI GO from your laptop or desktop computer, you don’t need an app. Simply log in to your MyGCI profile from a web browser and start watching.

But, if you want to watch GCI go from a mobile device such as an Android phone or an iPad, an app is required. Not all the channels have apps yet. To see which channels have apps, click here. The list is updated frequently. Most of the content providers are in the process of rolling out apps.

To download the channel-specific apps, please visit the Apple App Store or Google Android Market and follow the instructions.

Remember: You’ll still need a GCI TV subscription that includes the channel you’d like to stream in order to watch.
 

Can I watch shows live or are they only available the following day?

This varies by channel provider. Both HBO and Cinemax shows are served up on demand following their original airdate, while other channel providers stream their shows live.
 

Can I use GCI GO even when I’m outside of Alaska?

Yes, you can. As long as you have a secure, high-speed Internet connection on the device you want to use, you can watch GCI GO from anywhere by signing into your MyGCI profile.
 

Do I need a specific web browser to access GCI GO?

GCI recommends using the following web browsers:
Windows

  • Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher
  • Chrome 17.0 or higher
  • Firefox 10.0 or higher

MAC

  • Safari 5.1 or higher
  • Chrome 17.0 or higher
  • Firefox 10.0 or higher

 

Are there any system requirements for GCI GO?

It’s very important that your system meet the minimum requirements. If it doesn’t, your viewing experience will be very spotty. Here’s the criteria your computer, smart phone, tablet or other mobile device should meet before watching GCI GO.

PC Requirements
Microsoft Window 7, Vista, XP (SP2 or SP3), Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2003 Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz (or faster), with 2 GB RAM.

Windows Browser Version

  • Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher
  • Chrome 17.0 or higher
  • Firefox 10.0 or higher

MAC Requirements
Apple OSX 10.5.7, Intel Core Duo, 1.83 GHz (or faster), with 2GB RAM.

  • Safari 5.1 or higher
  • Chrome 17.0 or higher
  • Firefox 10.0 or higher

Video card with 24 bit true color and 128 MB memory

  • An Adobe Flash Player with version 10.2 or higher. To check if you have the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player, go to www.adobe.com.
  • Silverlight 5.1.0 or high. Go to here to download the latest version of Silverlight.
  • JavaScript enabled
  • Cookies enabled

Minimum Bandwidth

  • An Internet connection of 3.0Mbps or greater (for HD content)
  • A Mobile network connection over WiFi or 3G or higher with at least 700Kbps
