Basic Encryption on GCI TV

Basic Encryption Begins

Effective October 15, 2013,  GCI TV’s Basic Service tier will be encrypted.*

Are You Affected?

If you have a set-top box, digital transport adapter (DTA), or a retail CableCARD device connected to each of your TVs, you will be unaffected by this change.

If you are a GCI TV customer & receive our Basic Service channels on a secondary TV without equipment supplied by GCI, you will lose the ability to view any channels on that TV.

For Those Affected

Please contact us to arrange for the equipment necessary to continue receiving your services.

No Additional Charge

Basic Service customers who receive Basic Service on a secondary TV without GCI supplied equipment are eligible to use GCI equipment on that secondary TV for up to two years at no additional charge; this applies to two devices for two TVs.

If you receive Medicaid you are eligible to receive those two devices for up to five years at no additional charge.

You Subscribe to a Higher Level of Service

If you subscribe to Preferred or Digital Service and receive the Basic Service channels on a secondary TV without GCI supplied equipment, you are eligible for one device for one year.

Qualification Timeline

To qualify for any equipment at no additional charge or service fee, you must request the equipment between August 15, 2013 and February 15, 2014 and satisfy all other eligibility requirements.
