FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
For the first time ever, skiers and riders can upload selfies, tweet and post their status updates, make calls and text friends from the slopes of Eaglecrest Ski Area near Juneau. GCI recently completed construction of a cell phone tower, making it the first and only wireless carrier with 4G LTE service at Southeast’s winter recreation hotspot. In addition, a number of TurboZone, premium wi-fi hotspots at the ski area provide GCI customers with free high-speed Internet access.
“We're thrilled to not only provide these services to our neighbors at Eaglecrest Ski Area, we’re also proud that GCI continues to be the Wireless trailblazer across Alaska when it comes to providing new services and keeping our customers connected,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Services, Paul Landes.
To celebrate the new offering, GCI and Eaglecrest Ski Area invite skiers and snowboarders to hit the slopes for free on Saturday, Feb. 22, for a “GCI Day on the Mountain.” Visitors who bring one canned food item for the Southeast Alaska Food Bank will be provided with a free one-day lift ticket for the ski area, courtesy of GCI. Season pass holders who donate a can of food will receive a voucher to the mountain’s dining facility, Eaglecrest Grill. GCI ambassadors will also be on the mountain with additional giveaway items and discounts.
