FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Anchorage, Alaska – Continuing along its path to provide one-gigabit broadband service in Alaska by 2015, GCI announced today that it has increased its existing re:D top speed from 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps, which is highly competitive with the fastest broadband speeds available in the nation.
Customers of GCI re:D, the state’s premier Internet product, can experience this speed increase immediately at no additional cost. GCI’s 200 Mbps re:D broadband service is now available to re:D subscribers in Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, with additional coverage areas planned for the coming months.
Only three months ago, GCI upgraded re:D speeds from 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps, and the company is already doubling re:D speed again. In addition to incredibly fast download and upload speeds, GCI’s re:D includes the most broadband data usage ever offered by the company, with 500,000 MB per month. GCI re:D broadband rates for consumers start at $175 per month.
“GCI has an ongoing commitment to provide Alaskans with the latest technology in communications, and our re:D broadband service is just one example,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Services Paul Landes. “Among the many strides we’ve made in technology in Alaska, GCI was the first to provide high-speed Internet service in the state, so it is fitting for us to now bring Alaskans some of the fastest broadband in the country with this 200 Mbps service.”
re:D service is available for residential as well as enterprise customers. Learn more about GCI’s re:D broadband at www.gci.com/red, or call 800-800-4800.
