FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Anchorage, Alaska – GCI has partnered with Alaska Airlines and the Seattle Mariners to send two lucky Alaskans and their guests to Phoenix, Ariz., for the ultimate Mariners spring training experience from March 21 – 23, 2014.
“We know Alaskans have a great appreciation for America’s favorite pastime, and many baseball fans in the state are passionate about the Mariners. GCI takes pride in connecting Alaskans to the things they care about most, and giving members of the Mariners’ Alaska fan base a chance to experience spring training is another way we can do that,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Services Paul Landes.
“During baseball season, we have many Alaskans who fly with Alaska Airlines to Seattle to support the Mariners,” said Alaska Airlines Director of Sales and Community Marketing Alaska Scott Habberstad. “We’re excited to send Mariners fans on another one of our popular routes down to Phoenix to see the start of the 2014 season and enjoy the warm weather.”
To win, Alaskans can watch a KTVA Channel 11 newscast from Feb. 24 – March 9, 2014, for a daily code word, to be announced during the commercial break immediately before or directly after the sports segment. Contestants can also obtain the code word by visiting www.ktva.com each night and clicking on the "Contest" tab and selecting "Win a Trip to watch the Seattle Mariners at Spring Training." Once they find the code word, viewers need to visit www.gci.com/spring and enter the code word for a chance to win. Each day and each code word offers another opportunity to win.
Each winner will be treated to round-trip airfare for two from Alaska Airlines, receive two tickets to Mariners spring training games and gain access to special events. When not experiencing the thrill of Seattle Mariners baseball, winners will have an opportunity to explore beautiful Phoenix with their rental car from Enterprise Rent-A-Car; enjoy a day on the links at the renowned McCormick Ranch Golf Club in the golf mecca of Scottsdale, Ariz.; or enjoy the luxury accommodations at the Millennium Resort and Villas Scottsdale, where winners will receive complimentary lodging for three nights. GCI will also provide each winner with a $750 Visa gift card for dining and entertainment.
“Spring training is a great time of year for sports fans, especially those of us who live in northern states,” said Seattle Mariners Senior Vice President of Communications Randy Adamack. “This promotion is the perfect way to get Mariners fans in Alaska ready for the 2014 season and excited to follow the team on ROOT Sports, thanks to GCI. It is the partnership between GCI, Alaska Airlines, Millennium Hotels, and KTVA that provides this great trip to the fun and sun of spring training in Arizona.”
The contest is open to all Alaska residents, ages 21 years and older on the date of the contest. Only one entry can be submitted per participant per daily code word. Each particular code word will be valid to be submitted at any time throughout the day that it airs. Code words will air Monday through Friday during KTVA’s 6 a.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news programs. On Saturday and Sunday, code words will air during the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. news programs. Contest winners will be selected March 10, 2014.
