How do I set parental controls for my TV?

Control your TV! You have the power. You are in charge of what is accessed from your cable converter box.

The following are specific instructions for GCI TV Parental controls. There is more information available at theTVboss.org

Pay-Per-View (PPV) and Video On Demand (VOD) can have purchase locks, so movies or TV programming can’t be ordered without your approval. Set your four-digit Parental Control code to restrict view by setting locks on ratings, channels or even specific programming titles. You can also hide adult titles from being displayed on screen.

 

Parental Control Code

  1. Press Menu button twice
  2. Highlight Parental Controls then press OK
  3. You will be prompted to enter 4-digit code, select one and enter it

Purchase Code

  1. Press Menu button twice
  2. Highlight Parental Controls then press OK
  3. Highlight PINs setup (in Parental Controls menu) then press OK
  4. You will be prompted to enter 4-digit code, select one and enter it

Important: Make sure that you store your Parental Code and Purchase code in a secure location after you program them into your converter box. To unlock the system or if you have forgotten your code, you must visit a GCI store with a picture ID for verification.

Accessing Menu

  1. Press menu button twice.
  2. Highlight Parental controls then press OK.
  3. Press EXIT at any time to return to watching TV.
  4. Press MENU to return to the Navigator.
  5. Select how you want to control access.
  6. By Title, Rating (TV & Movie), Contrent, Channel
  7. A padlock will appear next to the selection
  8. Hide Title on TV and VOD

Placing Locks

  1. To place locks on ratings or channels, go to the LOCKS menu, then press ← or → as necessary to highlight either the channel or rating selection.
  2. Press or hold until the desired rating or channel appears, the press LOCK.
  3. To place a lock on a program title, highlight the program in any of the listing menus, then press LOCK. Follow the same procedure, described in Step 2.
    • You may also press LOCK anytime while watching TV to place a lock on the title, rating, or channel applicable to the current show.
  4. A padlock will appear next to the selection, indicating it is now restricted.

Removing Locks

  1. Press Menu button twice.
  2. Highlight Parental Controls then press OK.
  3. You will be prompted to enter 4-digit code
  4. Enter 4-digit code.
