Creating a PIN (Personal Identification Number)
and using Parental Control

With a PIN you are able to secure the use of any VOD, PPV, by rating or even per channel.  How you set up a PIN is:

Press the Menu (settings) button and you will get:

Using the arrow keys select the house image, press ok and it will take you to:

Select the Setup on the screen and press "ok".  It will take you to:

Select the PINs Setup and press "ok", at this point you will enter a 4 digit PIN and it will ask for you to confirm it.  This PIN is just held on this box.  GCI has no way for getting it for you so make sure you select a PIN you can remember, but not easy enough to guess.  Now anytime someone tries to order something on this box (If you have more you will have to set this up on each box) they will have to enter that PIN number.  The screen looks like this:

You can also select other items that would require a PIN, like movies or TV rating or even whole channels.  If you press the "last" key you will go back to:

If you use the arrow keys and go down to the Locks Setup and press ok you will see this:

From here you can set the threshhold of what that cable box will show before it asks for your PIN.  For an example if you set the Movie Rating Locks to PG.  Anything PG-13 or higher will require your PIN.  Or you can go through all the channels and and just lock each of them that you do not wish to play on that cable box.

Blocking the VOD Service

A service block must be set up to block VOD completely.  Free content and chargable content will not be able to be accessed once this block is set up on the account.

To set up a service block press Menu button twice on the remote.

Select Service locks setup and press OK on the remote

Highlight Video On Demand and press OK on the remote

Enter in a 4 digit Pin Number and press OK on the remote

Re-enter the 4 digit Pin Number for confirmation.

Once this is done, and VOD is locked out completely a lock next to Video on Demand will display

Now press Exit on the remote, and VOD will not be able to be accessed without entering the PIN number.

To remove the lock follow the same process, and the lock will be removed.

Back to Video on Demand
