Public Service Announcements
We air video and text-based PSA announcements on a space-available basis on select channels. To place a PSA with us, your organization needs to meet the following criteria:
- Your organization must be a 501 (C) (3) charity or non-profit.
- Event must be free and open to the public and serve the public’s interest as a whole.
- Message and event should be appropriate for the community.
- Submission of a PSA does not guarantee broadcast, as there’s a seven day deadline prior to air date.
If your organization or event meets the above criteria, you can fill out the PSA submission form to submit a PSA. If your organization or event does not qualify, you can build your own TV classified ad for as little as $16. TV Classifieds can air within two business days of submission.
Text-based PSA announcements in Anchorage/Mat-Su communities are broadcast on Channel 12, while Kenai, Kodiak, Seward, Valdez, Cordova, Homer, Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Wrangell, Petersburg, Kotzebue, Bethel, Nome and Barrow are broadcast on the local GCI channel.
GCI routinely sets aside unused channel capacity for commercial use by unaffiliated video programmers; also known as “leased access.” We designate one out of every three channels for qualified minority or educational programming sources and establish reasonable insurance requirements for leased access programmers with minimal technical support. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provides us with a rate formula to help us govern these arrangements.
