GCI ANNOUNCES LITESPEED INTERNET SERVICE

Always On, Reliable Connection that’s Twice as fast as typical Dial-up

ANCHORAGE, AK -- GCI announced today the availability of LiteSpeed, a new Internet access service offering existing dial-up Internet users the convenience of always-on service along with improved performance over dialup. Dial-up users can now experience the convenience of staying on-line 24 hours a day, seven days a week with no logon required and at a lower price than other higher speed services.

LiteSpeed users will notice an immediate difference in convenience, connection reliability, and real access speed over typical dial-up service. LiteSpeed uses the all-digital network of the cable TV system to deliver a reliable and consistent connection speed that is superior to dial-up services. A typical dial-up user normally never achieves half the access speed of LiteSpeed because of limitations of the copper telephone network, cumbersome networking protocols and slow modems. Litespeed users will also appreciate the conveniences of not tying up their phone line, missing important calls, or having to having to wait to reconnect due to an unreliable dial-up connection.

"LiteSpeed is designed for customers who are tired of slow and unreliable dial-up connections but are not yet ready for the zoom of super high-speed Internet like GCI’s Hypernet service," said Terry Nidiffer, general manager of GCI Internet. "In addition, LiteSpeed offers users the security of digital encryption and the convenience of not having to log-on or tying up a phone line."

LiteSpeed does not require the purchase of a separate modem like dial-up and is priced as low as $24.99 when the customer also has GCI for long-distance. The service is available to homes and businesses in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai/Soldotna and the Mat-Su Valley. Activation is free and the service comes with unlimited live technical support.

The first month of service is also free when customers commit to one year of service. GCI (NASDAQ: GNCMA) is the largest telecommunications provider in Alaska. The company provides local, wireless, and long distance telephone service, cable television, Internet and data communication. More information about the company can be found at http://www.gci.com.
