GCI AND ALYESKA PIPELINE SERVICE COMPANY SIGN TELECOMMUNICATION
SERVICE AGREEMENT
ANCHORAGE, AK -- General Communication, Inc. (GCI)
has signed a long-term agreement to provide communication services
to Alyeska Pipeline Service Company (Alyeska Pipeline). GCI will
provide voice, video and data services to support operations of the
Trans-Alaska Pipeline System using an 800-mile fiber optic cable
system. GCI completed the previously announced acquisition of an 85
percent interest in the fiber optic system effective June 30,
2001.
According to Marsha Burns, GCI vice president, GCI is providing
long distance service, voice and data circuits, cable television
and private broadcast services, Internet and transparent local area
network services to Alyeska Pipeline.
"We look forward to a long-term, productive working relationship
between two companies that have a statewide impact on Alaska," said
Burns. "We are particularly pleased that Alyeska Pipeline has
looked to us to provide broadband services."
